The Corner Coffee House in the paper

The coffee house was in the Barking and Dagenham Post last week..

A community cafe run as a social enterprise by volunteers has opened its doors in Dagenham.

The Corner Coffee House opened earlier this month at 808 Green Lane and is a place for people to relax, meet friends and admire local artwork on display.

Avril McIntyre is one of the driving forces behind the venture. She said “It came about after a group of us who live locally said we could do with a coffee shop. We also wanted to make it good for the community. So far it’s been successful and we’ve had good feedback from customers. It’s run as a social enterprise which means that any money we make is put back into the community.”

Goodmayes resident Elspeth Paisley was also part of the founding group. She said the coffee house aims to showcase the work of local creatives. “We are also building a programme which includes evening music events that showcase local musicians as well as daytime craft workshops.”
